Ironbirds bats silent in 3-2 loss

After getting 19 hits the first two games of the series at Williamsport, the IronBirds bats went silent Wednesday night, in a 3-2 loss to the Crosscutters. The Birds went 1-5 on the season's first road trip and are 1-8 on the season.

Williamsport scored three runs in the 3rd vs. starter Brad Bergesen, getting all the offense after two were out with none on. Brad Corley drew a bases-loaded walk, then Jason Delaney hit a two-run single to left for a 3-0 lead.

The IronBirds were no-hit thru four by righty Luis Munoz, but scored once in the 5th. Nolan Reimold and Matt Pulley led off with singles and one out later, Reimold scored on Francisco Guerrero's groundout.

In the 7th, Aberdeen pulled within 3 to 2 as Guerrero's two-out single scored Reimold, who led off that frame with a walk.

The Birds were held to just three hits, all singles, and went down in order in the 8th and 9th.

Bergesen took his first loss, giving up 3er, 5h over 3ip. Three pitchers combined to hurl five no-hit innings after that with Henry Lozado pitching innings four thru six, while Blake Owen threw the 8th and Kyle Boehm the 9th.

NOTES ---- Aberdeen was held to four hits or less for the 4th time in nine contests.......the Birds began the night hitting just .211, last in the league...............Lozado has allowed just 1er in 7.1 ip on the year........Aberdeen fell to 0-3 in one-run games..........Zach Davis went 0-3 ending a 6-gm hit streak.....he began the night hitting .407, 4th best in the league ................the IronBirds begin a six-game homestand Thursday at 7:05pm hosting Brooklyn in the first of a 3-game series...........this year's 11th-round pick, lefty Bruce Galloway (0-1 2.25) is the scheduled starting pitcher.........catch the game on AM 970, WAMD or on the net at ironbirdsbaseball.com.
