
Ira Homers Twice in LumberKings' Victory

PERU, ILL- After falling to the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp 7-3 on Wednesday, the LumberKings returned the favor, defeating the Pistol Shrimp by that same score on Thursday night.
Clinton got things started early. In the first it was a pair of RBI doubles by Rayth Petersen (University of Illinois Chicago) and Jeremy Conforti (College of DuPage) giving the LumberKings a 2-0 lead.
The next five runs came off the bat of Luke Ira (South Dakota State University. In the third he hit a three-run homer to give Clinton a 6-0 lead, which proved to be the winning hit. Later Ira gave Clinton some insurance in the 9th with a solo shot, his second long ball of the night.
On the mound for the LumberKings, Blake Gaskey (Southeastern CC) got the start. Gaskey earned the win for Clinton, going five innings and surrendering just three runs.
Logan Romasanta (Morton College) pitched in relief and struck out four batters over four scoreless innings of work.
Clinton now looks forward to tomorrow night when they will play the rubber match with Illinois Valley at Nelson Corp Field in Clinton, Iowa.
First pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
