
Iowa Wild Sends Defenseman Baldwin to Mallards

MOLINE, Ill. (November 2, 2013) - The American Hockey League's Iowa Wild have assigned defenseman Corbin Baldwin to the Quad City Mallards, the Mallards announced today.
Baldwin, 22, has skated in three games for the Wild this season. Last year as a rookie, the 6' 5", 215-pound Winnipeg native won the Central Hockey League Ray Miron President's Cup title with the Allen Americans after joining the Americans late in the campaign. Baldwin picked up three assists in 19 playoff games after recording one assist in four regular season outings in Allen. Baldwin spent the bulk of last season with the ECHL's Orlando Solar Bears, for whom he registered five assists in 38 games. He also got his first taste of AHL action last year, playing in four games and picking up one assist for the Houston Aeros.
Baldwin turned pro after four seasons with the Spokane Chiefs of the major junior Western Hockey League. In 2011-12 Baldwin closed out his junior career by scoring six goals, totaling 27 points and piling up 128 penalty minutes in 69 games while posting a team-leading plus minus rating of +35. Baldwin scored 11 times, produced 66 points and spent 379 minutes in the penalty box in 248 career WHL games. He helped the Chiefs to at least 45 wins and 95 points in each of his first three junior seasons.
The Mallards entered into an affiliation agreement with the both the Iowa Wild and the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild prior to this season.
The Mallards return to action tonight at 7:05 p.m. on home ice against the Brampton Beast. Fans who donate new, unwrapped toys at the iWireless Center will receive a coupon good for $3 off the price of one ticket (for each toy donated) to this evening's game. Donated toys will be distributed to area foster children by the Center for Youth and Family Solutions, which engages and serves children and families in need with dignity, compassion and respect by building upon individual and community strengths to resolve life challenges together.

The ticket office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.
