Iowa City Native Ewing Returns to Bucks' Roster

Waterloo, IA - The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced infielder Andrew Ewing will return to play for the Bucks in 2011. Ewing, a junior at the University of Iowa, is the second player to be named to the Waterloo roster for the team's 17th season.

Last season, Ewing signed with the Bucks on August 1. The Iowa City, Iowa native made the most of his opportunity with Waterloo, hitting .305 with five RBI, 12 runs, and a .388 on-base percentage in just 17 games. Ewing hit .455 when he led off an inning and .385 versus the Battle Creek Bombers.

The 5'11", 185-pounder hit .290 for the Hawkeyes in 2010, playing in 23 games. Ewing finished his collegiate season with 12 runs scored and a .452 on-base percentage. In Big Ten play alone, Ewing hit .600 with a .750 on-base percentage.

Ewing played high school baseball at Iowa City West High School, being named the Conference Player of the Year as a senior. While playing for West, Ewing was named a two-time First Team All-State selection and a three-time First Team All-Conference honoree.

Born December 13, 1989, Andrew is the son of Joe and Brenda Ewing.

The Bucks will open the 2011 season on the road at Battle Creek on June 1. Waterloo's home opener is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 at 6:35 pm versus the Eau Claire Express.
