Iowa Barnstormers News Release
The Iowa Barnstormers (6-5) went into their final three regular season games of the season with a 4-5 record and their backs against the corner.
After concluding the home portion of the slate, the Barnstormers have won their way into clinching a berth in the 2021 Indoor Football League playoffs.
With a win to own the tiebreaker over the Bismarck Bucks and a 21-point comeback, overtime win over rival Sioux Falls, Iowa has solidified itself in the standings with one game left to play in the regular season.
On Saturday, the Barnstormers will go toe-to-toe with the other team that's on a hot streak in the Massachusetts Pirates (10-3).
The Pirates come into the game having won each of their past seven games this year ahead of Saturday's matchup in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Iowa will need to play with the same passion and execution that brought them back from that 21-point deficit at halftime last week.
Quarterback Daquan Neal tallied one of his best games of the season on Sioux Falls, with a 19-31 mark through the air, three passing touchdowns and another three rushing scores.
The rushing duo of Elad Covaliu and Evan Owens contributed 60 yards to the offense as well as the eventual game-winning touchdown in overtime a week ago.
On the defensive side of things, it was linebacker Tony Jones coming up big once again, leading the team with eight tackles and playing a pivotal role in the comeback.
The Barnstormers will kickoff against the Pirates at 6:05 p.m. CT on Saturday, with hopes to clinch a home playoff game in the back of their minds.
