In a Sunday afternoon game in downtown Cary, NC, former St. Augustine College star Chuck Ward scored 18 points and pulled 13 rebounds to lead the Cary Invasion to a 141 - 99 victory over the Port City (Savannah) Sharks. Freddie Little dropped 24 points, including shooting 7 for 11 behind the arc, and Jonathan Moore scored 19 points in the win for the Invasion.
The Invasion (3 - 0) took control of the game from the beginning and never let up, scoring 47 points and building a lead of 20 points in the first quarter. The game was never in question with the Sharks outmanned and outnumbered at every position on the court.
Leon Frazier, Jr. and Maurice Brown each scored 27 points in the losing effort for Port City (0 - 1).
The Invasion play at Wilmington on May 20th in their first road game of the season and then again on May 22nd at home against the Fayetteville Crossover for "AAU Night" at the Herbert Young Center in Cary. Notes:
--Cary shot 59% from the field while Port City shot 46%.
--Cary out-rebounded Port City 54-36.
--It was "Heart of Cary" night at the game.
