
Intimidators Beat The Bats 5-3

KANNAPOLIS â The Intimidators scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning breaking a 1-1 tie en route to a 5-3 victory over first place Greensboro Thursday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. Kannapolis starter Craig Szado turned in another spectacular performance holding Greensboro to one run and three hits in seven innings pitched.
The Bats (10-5) scored the only run off Szado on Juan Camacho's solo home run in the second inning. The Intimidators (6-9) tied the game up on Johnny Santamarina's RBI double in the fourth inning scoring Scott McKee. Josh Fields tossed a perfect eighth inning to post his second win of the season.
Mike Spidale broke the 1-1 tie in the eighth inning with a single to score Jonathan Cavin off Bat's starter Jason Smith who took the loss hurling 7 innings and giving up four runs on eight hits. With the Intimidators up 2-1, Jason Faigin came in for Smith inheriting runners on first and third and no out. Faigin gave up a single and a double scoring two runs charged to Smith and gave up a single to Andrew Salvo scoring Chris Amador for the Intimidators fifth run.
Greensboro's Juan Camacho hit his second home run on the night, a two run blast in the top of the ninth of Julio Castro cutting the Intimidators lead to two. Castro retired the next three batters to end the game.
The Intimidators host the Bats at 6:35 Friday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
