International League Names Players of the Week

The International League announced today that Buffalo first baseman Luis Jimenez and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre pitcher Vidal Nuno have been named the League's Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the period from April 15-21.
LUIS JIMENEZ, Buffalo Bisons IL BATTER OF THE WEEK
Over the past week Bisons first baseman/designated hitter Luis Jimenez hit .455 and led the International League with 11 RBI, thanks largely to a historic afternoon on Thursday. Buffalo scored a franchise modern era record 27 runs Thursday at Syracuse, led by Jimenez who went 5-7 with four singles, a homer, 8 RBI, and four runs scored. His 8 RBI were tied for the 2nd-most in a single game in Buffalo's modern era. Only two other International League players had 8 RBI for the entire week.
30-year-old Luis Jimenez is in his first season in the Blue Jays organization after signing as a free agent this offseason. Last year with Tacoma he was a Pacific Coast League All-Star and also made his Major League debut, appearing in seven games with the Seattle Mariners. Jimenez is a native of Bobare, Venezuela.
VIDAL NUNO, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders IL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Left-hander Vidal Nuno won both of his starts last week by surrendering just one run on seven hits in 11.2 innings of work. Monday in Rochester, Nuno tossed 6.0 shutout innings, striking out eight while allowing four hits and a walk in a 10-1 RailRiders victory. Then on Sunday against Syracuse, Nuno earned his second win by striking out six in 5.2 innings. He conceded just three hits and one run to defeat the Chiefs. For the season, Nuno is now 3rd in the International League with 26 strikeouts and 5th with a 1.54 ERA.
25-year-old Vidal Nuno is in his fifth season as a professional pitcher and his third in the Yankees organization. He had never pitched above the Double-A level prior to 2013. Nuno is a native of National City, California.
