Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. - Inland Imaging and the Spokane Chiefs raised $10,000 for Every Woman Can (EWC) through the annual Chiefs Fight Cancer game on February 25th, 2023. EWC is a local organization that provides awareness of, advocacy for, and education on women's cancers; encourage women in their wellness choices; and serve women who are experiencing and living with cancer. Chiefs Vice President Jay Stewart applauded their efforts and the response from the people of Spokane, "Inland Imaging and the Spokane community has done such a great job of supporting our Chiefs Fight Cancer night and have helped us give back locally to Every Woman Can, an amazing non-profit. They're in the thick of the fight and provide so many great resources for women. We're blessed to have them in our region and happy that we're connecting our fans to their mission."
The Chiefs wore specialty jerseys in honor of the fight against cancer on February 25th against local rival Tri-City in a resounding 4-2 victory. Captain Raegan Wiles earned 1st Star on the night with a goal and an assist.
Pre-game ceremonies were full of emotion and inspiration as fans who had been affected by cancer were encouraged to shine their smart phone flashlights, filling the arena with the bright lights of people who had fought against cancer. Navy veteran and cancer survivor Tracy Brumley was honored on the ice as the game's VIP. Learn more about her story here...
The game worn jerseys as well as a team issued stick were available to fans through a blind auction during the game with proceeds benefiting Every Woman Can. Fans could also bid on a blank jersey and get it customized with the name and number of their choice.
Deb Pike Barnes, Founder and Principal of Every Woman Can, had this to say about the special night and special partnership with the Chiefs, "Our success as a local organization is tied to the community and our partners, and no one does it better than the Spokane Chiefs organization and their fans. The Spokane Chiefs Fight Cancer Night is an opportunity to honor all those who are affected by cancer and those who love them. Seeing cell phones light up the arena from each person connected to cancer is a stunning visual and reminder of how we're united in the cancer fight. Thanks to the Chiefs and their fans, #NoOneFightsAlone."
