
Inland Empire Drops First Road Game at Lake Elsinore 9-1

Lake Elsinore, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino hit the road for the first time in 2019 on Thursday and fell to the Lake Elsinore 9-1. The Sixers mustered just one run on an eighth-inning solo homer from catcher Ryan Scott, his first, while the Storm (6-2) pounded out 14 hits, 11 in the first four frames and got stellar pitching from starter MacKenzie Gore (2-0) to improve to 4-1 against Inland Empire this season.
The Storm got a run in the first against Inland Empire starter Aaron Hernandez (0-1) on Luis Campusano's RBI single. Lake Elsinore sent ten men to the plate in the second with four scoring to take a 5-0 lead. In the second, the Storm opened the inning with four straight hits and also took a bases loaded walk and a full-base hit batsman. Lake Elsinore tacked on three more in the fourth for an 8-0 advantage. Gore held Inland Empire (4-4) down for five frames and fanned six batters while walking one and surrendering two hits; the Padres top prospect has now held the Sixers scoreless in 10.0 IP vs the club. Torii Hunter Jr. had two hits and a stolen base for the Sixers while Franklin Torres extended his hit-streak to seven games with an eighth inning single. Robbie Podorsky had three hits and steal for Lake Elsinore. Scott's homer was only the second round-tripper hit by the 66ers this season.
