Ingram Charities Donates $100,000 to United Way's COVID-19 Response Fund

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Ingram Charities announced today that it will grant $100,000 to support United Way of Greater Nashville's COVID-19 Response Fund. Ingram joins other prominent local organizations stepping up to help individuals and families facing major financial struggles as the COVID-19 crisis continues to unfold across the Middle Tennessee region.

The COVID-19 Response Fund is housed at United Way of Greater Nashville, in partnership with Mayor John Cooper's office and local corporate and philanthropic partners. The Fund is working to quickly address the health and economic challenges of COVID-19 by rapidly deploying resources to community-based organizations in need of funds to meet the immediate needs of individuals affected by the crisis.

"On behalf of the Ingram family, our businesses and Nashville Soccer Club, we believe we have greater impact when we work together," said John Ingram, chairman of Ingram Industries Inc. and majority owner of Nashville Soccer Club. "We stand strong with Nashville and are pleased to support our community through the COVID-19 Response Fund. We know the Fund's leadership will ensure that the individuals and organizations that need it most will get support quickly to help weather this storm."

The Fund has raised just over $3.1 million, thanks to generous gifts from local foundations, corporations and community members, but much more is needed to meet the growing needs of the COVID-19 pandemic.

United Way of Greater Nashville is imploring anyone who can help to contribute. 100 percent of these funds will go to nonprofits to help individuals impacted by wage loss and agencies that need organizational support.

To meet the immediate needs of those experiencing job or wage loss, United Way distributed an initial $300,000 to six community-based organizations that are working directly with individuals: The Salvation Army, NeedLink Nashville, Catholic Charities, Martha O'Bryan Center, Conexión Américas and Rooftop Nashville. The Response Committee is currently reviewing more than 50 applications from local nonprofits and organizations seeking funding and expects to distribute the second round of grants beginning April 3.
