INF Alex Buchholz Rejoins Express

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced Tuesday that INF Alex Buchholz has been transferred from Double-A Frisco to the Triple-A Round Rock Express. In a corresponding move, INF Greg Miclat has been placed on the 7-Day DL.
Buchholz will be in his second stint with the Express after playing 13 games with the E-Train from May 4-23. Primarily a third baseman and designated hitter with Round Rock, Buchholz hit .311 (14-for-45) with six doubles, two homers and eight RBI over his first stretch at Triple-A. He was transferred back to Frisco on May 24 to rejoin the RoughRiders. Through a combined 79 games at Double-A this season, Buchholz hit .279 with 13 home runs and 40 RBI, making starts at third base, first base and as a designated hitter.
Miclat has played 74 games with the Express, batting .245 with 11 doubles, 26 RBI and 10 stolen bases before being sidelined. The switch-hitting infielder made a short stint with Double-A Frisco, playing five games for the RoughRiders July 10-14. Miclat is the third Express player to land on the shelf over the past seven days, joining catchers Jose Felix and Eli Whiteside.
After these moves, the current Express roster sits at 25 active players with three on the disabled list.
The Express opens an eight-game West Coast swing tonight in Fresno at 9:05 p.m. CST. Round Rock will send right-hander Jake Brigham (4-2, 3.93 ERA) to the mound to face Fresno's Eric Surkamp (2-0, 4.79 ERA).
