Indy Eleven Adds Defender Judson McKinney

INDIANAPOLIS (Friday, March 13, 2015) - Indy Eleven's roster continues to take shape with Friday's signing of defender Judson McKinney to the North American Soccer League side. Terms of the deal with McKinney, who officially brings the team's roster to 18 signed players, will not be disclosed per club policy.
"Judson really impressed during the Arizona preseason camp and has done well to earn a spot on the squad," said Indy Eleven Head Coach/Director of Soccer Operations Juergen Sommer. "He's a blue-collar type of player who will bring a bit of maturity to our team. Judson's work rate, versatility and comfort on the ball will serve us well at any spot on the backline and help him press for minutes immediately."
McKinney comes to Indy Eleven after spending the last two years in the Major Indoor Soccer League with Chicago Soul FC and Milwaukee Wave. Prior to that, McKinney began his professional career in earnest by playing the 2012 season with the then-USL PRO League's Charlotte Eagles, this after he spent two years playing in the USL Premier Development League (PDL) with the Akron Summit Assault (2011) and Dayton Dutch Lions (2010).
"I want to thank Juergen Sommer, Peter Wilt and the whole Indy Eleven family for welcoming me in recent weeks and giving me the opportunity to join the club," said the 26-year-old McKinney. "I can't wait to get in front of our home fans and show them what we've got."
McKinney played collegiately at the University of Cincinnati, where he was a regular starter along the back line and in midfield during all four of his seasons from 2006-09. Born in the Ivory Coast, where his parents served as missionaries, McKinney was raised in the Cleveland area and helped Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy to an Ohio State Championship in 2004.
Just 22 days remain until Indy Eleven's 2015 NASL Spring Season opener in Atlanta on April 4, followed a week later by the team's home opener at Carroll Stadium on Saturday, April 11, against the New York Cosmos, featuring the NASL debut of legendary Spanish striker Raul.
