INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The Indianapolis Indians (31-24) beat the Gwinnett Braves (28-27) by a 5-3 score on Sunday afternoon in the finale of the three-game series at Victory Field.

As they did in the first two games of this series, Gwinnett scored a run in the top of the first inning. With one out, Jace Peterson lined a single to left off Indians' starter Clay Holmes. Mel Rojas Jr. walked and Matt Tuiasosopo was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Dustin Peterson grounded out to second, scoring Jace Peterson from third for a 1-0 lead.

Indianapolis tied the game in the bottom of the third against Gwinnett starter Matt Wisler. Holmes hit a long fly ball to center that was dropped by Xavier Avery. Gift Ngoepe followed with a single, moving Holmes to third, and a sacrifice fly to right by Christopher Bostick plated Holmes to tie the game 1-1.

But in the bottom of the fifth, Ngoepe led off with a long solo homer to left of Wisler, tying the game at 2-2. Austin Meadows then doubled to left-center and scored when Danny Ortiz dropped a two-out single into right field to give the Indians a 3-2 lead.

The Indianapolis lead grew to 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth. Anderson Feliz drilled an infield single off the right shoulder of Gwinnett relief pitcher Akeel Morris. With two out, Ngoepe walked moving Feliz to second, and Meadows knocked Feliz in from second with a bloop double to left.

Gwinnett cut the deficit to 4-3 in the top of the seventh as Jace Peterson crushed a long solo homer to right off reliever Angel Sanchez.

However, in the bottom of the eighth, the Indians got the run back as pinch hitter Jason Rogers lined a two-out solo homer to left off Andrew Albers.

Wisler (L, 1-4) pitched 5.0 innings with six hits, three runs (two earned), two walks and four strikeouts. Morris went 0.2 innings with two hits, one earned run and one walk. Evan Phillips worked 1.1 innings with one walk. Albers pitched 1.0 inning with one hit and one earned run.
