Indians Option Adam Miller, Reid Santos to Bisons

The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have optioned RHP Adam Miller and LHP Reid Santos to the Buffalo Bisons. LHP Chuck Lofgren was also reassigned to minor league camp as the Tribe reduced their spring roster for the first time.

Miller, 23, spent the entire 2007 with the Bisons but was limited to 65.1 innings because of finger and elbow injuries. He was the team's Opening Day starter and went 5-4 with a 4.82ERA in 19 games and 11 starts (68H, 39R, 35ER, 21BB, 68K). Miller did not pitch for the Indians this spring.

In 2006, Miller was named the Eastern League Pitcher-of-the-Year and Indians Minor League Pitcher-of-the-Year following a 15-6 campaign with the Double-A Akron Aeros. This off-season, he was rated the Indians' #1 prospect by Baseball America.

Santos, 25, spent all of last season with Akron, going 8-3 with a 2.72ERA and two saves in 39 games and 10 starts (96.0IP, 80H, 29ER, 30BB, 85K). A 13th round pick by the Indians in the 2002 draft, Santos posted a 3.00ERA in three spring game with Cleveland (3.0IP, 4H, 2R, 1ER, 1BB, 2K).

Lofgren, 22, made one start for the Bisons in 2007, taking the loss against Scranton/WB on June 8 (5.0IP, 7H, 6R, 6Er, 3Bb, 7K). The southpaw spent the rest of the season with Akron and went 12-7 with a 4.37ERA in 26 starts (146.1IP, 153H, 79R, 71ER, 68BB, 123K). The Indians' #2 prospect by Baseball America, Lofgren posted a 5.40ERA in two spring games (1.2IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 5BB, 1K).

The Bisons begin their 12-game spring exhibition schedule on Friday, March 14 as they host the Round Rock Express (Houston Astros) at Winter Haven, FL.

The Bisons Home Opener is just 32 days away as they will host the Toledo Mud Hens on Friday, April 11 (6:05 p.m.) for a fridaynightbash!®.
