Indiana win in shut-out

Indiana Ice News Release

Anderson Snair's most challenging save in his 1-0 shut-out of the Cedar Rapids Roughriders did not come on a shot on goal. With his Ice clinging to single goal lead and skating on the power play, a puck got behind the Indiana defense and Cedar Rapids had a skater skating for the loose puck. There was nothing but Snair and his net in his path.

The Indy goaltender left the crease and skated past the face-off dot and beat the charging opponent by a split second to kill the scoring chance.

"Once you commit, you have to go for it," commented the Ice netminder. "My plan was to take him down and hope for the best if he beat me to the puck."

That play helped Matt Krug's second period goal stand up in Snair's 22-save shutout effort Friday at Pan Am Plaza.

The game's only score came off a blue line slap shot at 9:17 of the middle period. Bryan Yim and Bo Pieper assisted on Krug's 3rd goal of the season.

"It felt good. We competed as a team," stated Krug. "After last weekend's losses, we stressed being accountable. We have to concentrate on doing our own job - not someone else's."

Snair's shutout was his first in net for Indy.

"I was nice to comeback after last weekend," Snair remarked. "The last five minutes were exciting and most of the action was in our defensive zone. It was a great team effort.

Neither team scored in the third period, but the RoughRiders made it interesting trying to knot up the score. The visitors pulled their goaltender in the final 1:14 and Snair shut the door.

Nothing was settled in the first period as the teams skated into the first intermission in a scoreless tie. Indiana held Cedar Rapids without a shot on goal for the first 12:33 of the contest and limited the opponent to four first period shots.

The action shifts from the Pan Am Plaza to Bankers Life Fieldhouse for a Saturday matchup with the Chicago Steel. The puck drops at 7:05.
