Indiana Fever All-Decade Team Announced

INDIANAPOLIS - WNBA All-Stars Tamika Catchings and Katie Douglas highlight a cast of 10 honorees which comprise the Indiana Fever All-Decade Team, the team has announced. Honoring the Fever's first ten seasons in Indianapolis, the team was selected by over 51,000 votes cast by fans during online and in-arena balloting. The team will be honored at halftime of this evening's game when the Fever hosts the Detroit Shock.

Saturday's game is a Lucas Oil Family Night presented by The Indianapolis Star. The first 3,000 fans will receive an All-Decade Team commemorative poster and a Lucas Oil shammy.

The Indiana Fever All-Decade Team was established in appreciation for the fans that have supported the team throughout its first decade. Fans selected the 10 players who they felt made the greatest contributions to the Indiana Fever, combining on-court performance with spirit and sportsmanship. Balloting and sweepstakes were conducted from June 12 through July 30 at FeverBasketball.com and at kiosks inside Conseco Fieldhouse. All registered voters were eligible for sweepstakes prizes, including a 50" HDTV valued at $1,500 that will be awarded as the grand-prize courtesy of hhgregg, during tonight's halftime ceremony.

Winners of 18 of their past 21 games and responsible for the best record in the WNBA (18-5), the Fever's 2009 starting lineup occupies half of the All-Decade Team and five of the top six spots in final voting.

Catchings, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and six-time All-Star led the voting (6,244), followed by Indianapolis native Douglas (4,989), a three-time All-Star who currently leads the Fever with 17.8 points per game. Tully Bevilaqua (4,908) and Ebony Hoffman (4,831) occupy the third and fourth spots, and center Tammy Sutton-Brown (3,150) finished sixth. The only non-current Fever player to possess a spot in the top five is Stephanie White (3,439), an Indiana schoolgirl legend, former Purdue star and one of the original members of the Indiana Fever. White is currently an assistant coach with the Chicago Sky.

Rounding out the team were two-year stars Anna DeForge and Tamika Whitmore who each helped the Fever to franchise-record 21-13 seasons in 2006 and 2007; three-year center Natalie Williams who retired after the 2005 season as one of the top rebounders in women's professional history; and Tan White who played four seasons in Indiana and left as the club's second-leading scorer.

Eight of the ten All-Decade stars have represented the Fever on WNBA All-Star teams or won WNBA postseason awards. The Indiana Fever All-Decade Team:
