Indiana Ice News Release
The Indiana Ice put up a staggering 39 shots on net, but couldn't sneak the puck past Kevin Lindskoug as the Ice fell to the Muskegon Lumberjacks 4-1 Saturday night from L.C. Walker Arena.
Rinat Valiev scored the only goal of the night for the Ice to record his third goal in four games. Zach Aman and Austin Ortega earned the helpers' credit on the tally.
Muskegon was able to light the lamp twice in the first two periods despite a 29-11 shot disadvantage in the first 40 minutes of play.
Despite combining for 29 shots in the first two periods, Indy wasn't able to find pay dirt until the 5:57 mark in the third period when Valiev cut the deficit to two at 3-1.
Ben Foster and Cameron Darcy scored the first pair of goals for the Lumberjacks while Speedway, IN native Mason Jobst and Joseph Cox recorded the final two goals in the third period to finalize the score at 4-1.
Indy travels to Youngstown next weekend for a pair of games with the Phantoms before returning to the Circle City for a two-game set with the league-leading Dubuque Fighting Saints on Friday, February 1 and Saturday, February 2.
Friday's game will be at Pan Am Plaza at 7:05 pm. Saturday's contest from Bankers Life Fieldhouse is "Hockey for Heart" night, presented by the St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana.
