Indiana Alley Cats Keep Rolling On

December 13, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Indiana AlleyCats News Release

Anderson, IN. Some may say the Indiana Alley Cats had a huge advantage going into the game. Maybe they did, they are undefeated, ranked #1 in the ABA, and more so they already won two previous match-ups against Pittsburgh. But don't let all that fool you or suggest that Pittsburgh would lay down and accept defeat. Despite the fact that Pittsburgh only had 8 players dress, they came out on fire as they tried to be the first team to claim victory over Indiana.

Some say history repeats itself. The truth is Pittsburgh started strong with tremendous shooting by Coleco Buie and Janeiro Spurlock. At one point, the Xplosion led by as much as 18 ponts. Then again, we are talking about the slow start Indiana Alley Cats, right? Despite the fast start by the Xplosion, the Alley Cats rallied to cut the Xplosion 18 point lead to six to end the first quarter.

History repeats itself. Chandler Thompson's 3-pointer with 7 minutes to go in the second quarter tied the game at 45 and sparked the Alley Cats rally to close the half with a 79-61 lead. Although Indiana took the lead and never lost it, Pittsburgh, with their strong eight, chipped away but could never regain it. It was all Indiana in the second half with a showcase of assists from Lincoln Glass and dunks from Steve Turner as Indiana silenced the Xplosion's best efforts with a 131-116 win. History does repeat itself!

Chandler Thompson again led all scorers with 32 points and 5 rebounds. Lester Jones came off the bench again with a good showing of 18 points, Carl Edwards contributed 14 and 8 rebounds and Aaron Hogg chipped in with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Brandon Brantley gave his second-consecutive double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Janerio Spurlock led the Xplosion with 31 pionts, followed by Kyle Crawford with 20 and Shawn Williams with 19. Isaac Jefferson pulled down 17 rebounds. Indiana goes back on the road when they face the Ohio Aviators on Thursday, December 15th.
