Charlotte Independence News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Independence today officially announced that forward Aly Hassan has been loaned to the USL club for the remainder of the 2016 season, including potential postseason play, by the NASL's Carolina RailHawks.
Hassan, 27, signed with the RailHawks ahead of the 2016 NASL season. He has appeared in 10 games, recording 165 minutes, one goal and one yellow card.
"We are excited to add Aly at this point of our season," said Independence Head Coach Mike Jeffries. "Aly adds to our attacking options and gives us another box presence. He has excellent goal scoring instincts and a finisher's mentality, as well as top technical qualities."
A native of Weston, FL, Hassan made his professional debut with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in 2012. He had a successful rookie season, posting six goals in 21 appearances. Following a brief loan to Bolivian squad Club Aurora, Hassan returned to the Strikers for three more seasons, logging 885 minutes and scoring three goals. He was transferred to Ottawa Fury FC in June of 2015, where he appeared in 12 matches and scored three goals en route to the NASL Championship match.
Hassan is now eligible to play in the Independence's next match, a road contest against Bethlehem Steel FC on Sunday, Aug. 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00pm at Goodman Stadium. The Independence then return home to Ramblewood Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 13, for a rematch with the Wilmington Hammerheads at 7:00pm.
