Peoria Rivermen News Release
Illinois Pro Sports (owners of the Peoria Rivermen and Bloomington Thunder) are proud to announce they are partnering with the Chicago Blackhawks for the 2013-14 season to help grow the game of hockey throughout central and downstate Illinois.
"This is an exciting day for the Peoria and Bloomington organizations," Rivermen co-owner Bart Rogers said. "We're thrilled to partner with such a strong brand and successful organization. What the Blackhawks have done in recent years cannot be overstated."
"We want to take a page out of the Blackhawks' book and use their expertise to build and restore the excitement of professional hockey back in central Illinois."
The Rivermen will hold two "Chicago Blackhawks Nights" during the second half of the season. These unique events will include Blackhawks giveaway items, special in-game promotions and more. Game dates and promotional information will be announced at a later date. In addition, both Carver Arena (Peoria) and the U.S. Cellular Coliseum (Bloomington) will display Blackhawks signage at the rink through dasherboards and other in-game and social media elements during the season.
Founded in 1926, the Blackhawks are an "Original Six" National Hockey League franchise. The organization has won five Stanley Cup championships, including two in the last four years, and has led the league in attendance each of the last five seasons.
