Bloomington Thunder News Release
Illinois Pro Sports, owners of the Bloomington Thunder and Peoria Rivermen, are proud to announce they are partnering with the Chicago Blackhawks for the 2013-14 season to help grow the game of hockey throughout central and downstate Illinois.
"This is an exciting day for our organizations," Rivermen President David Holt said. "The Blackhawks have accomplished incredible things on and off the ice and we are thrilled to partner with an outstanding organization.
"We are building and restoring excitement for professional hockey in central Illinois, and we want to follow the Blackhawks' example in partnering with them to do just that."
The Thunder will hold two "Chicago Blackhawks Nights" during the second half of the season. These unique events will include Blackhawks giveaway items, special in-game promotions and more. Game dates and promotional information will be announced at a later date. In addition, both U.S.
Cellular Coliseum and Carver Arena will display Blackhawks signage at the rink through dasherboards and other in-game and social media elements during the season.
Founded in 1926, the Blackhawks are an "Original Six" National Hockey League franchise. The organization has won five Stanley Cup championships, including two in the last four years, and has led the league in attendance each of the last five seasons.
