IHL Announces Weekly Honors For Week Fourteen

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Fort Wayne center Colin Chaulk has been named the IHL Player of the Week, Muskegon forward Matt Robertson has been named the IHL Rookie of the Week and Fort Wayne goaltender Tim Haun has been named the IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 17th, 2010.

Chaulk wrapped up the week scoring three goals and dishing out four assists for seven points and a plus-four rating in three games. He recorded his second four-point night of the season Sunday, scoring two goals and two assists in the Komets 5-3 win over the Quad City Mallards. One of his two goals was the game-winner, scored with just 52 seconds left in the game in a 3-3 tie with the Mallards. Chaulk scored his second goal 51 seconds later, sealing the victory for Fort Wayne. The 33-year-old Toronto, Ontario native currently leads the Komets in scoring with 39 points (12 goals, 27 assists) in 31 games played. His 39 points also ranks him fourth in the IHL in scoring.

Other players nominated for the IHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington forward Jamie Carroll, Dayton forward Mike Vaskivou, Flint right wing John Mori, Muskegon center Brian Bicek, Port Huron left wing Mickael Bedard and Quad City center Justin White.

Robertson completed the week with five points, scoring three goals and two assists in three games. The rookie forward recorded his first professional hat trick Sunday in Muskegon's 8-4 win over Port Huron in their battle for sole possession of first place. He scored all three tallies even strength. The same night was also the first four-point night of Robertson's career, where he added an assist to go along with the three goals. The 21-year-old Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native is currently tied for eleventh among IHL rookies in scoring with 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists). His 17 points also ranks him sixth among the Lumberjacks in scoring.

Other players nominated for the IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington defenseman Cole Ruwe, Dayton forward Corey Couturier, Flint goaltender Nick Niedert, Fort Wayne forward Kaleigh Schrock, Port Huron forward Brandon Naurato and Quad City center Justin White.

Haun was stellar once again between the pipes for the Komets, finishing the week with a 2-0-0-0 record. The two wins extends his winning streak to five games and he is unbeaten in regulation in his last seven contests, posting a 6-0-0-1 record during that span. Haun kicked off the week earning his second straight shutout Friday against the Flint Generals to earn back-to-back shutouts, dating back to his last start last Sunday. He had a 1.50 goals against average and a.960 save percentage in his two starts, stopping 72 of 75 total shots he faced. The 29-year-old Solsgirth, Manitoba native currently leads all IHL goaltenders in goals against average (2.12) and save percentage (.924), is ranked second in wins (15), minutes played (1443:10) and its tied for second with two shutouts.

Other goaltenders nominated for the IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Andrew Martin, Dayton's Ryan Mior, Flint's Nick Niedert, Muskegon's Sebastien Centomo, Port Huron's Adam Russo and Quad City's Jerad Kaufmann.
