IHL Announces Weekly Honors For Week Fifteen

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Bloomington center Jon Booras has been named the IHL Player of the Week, Dayton forward Tim Hartung has been named the IHL Rookie of the Week and Port Huron goaltender Larry Sterling has been named the IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 24th, 2010.

Booras finished the week scoring three goals and five assists for eight points in three games played. He also capped off the week with a plus-five rating. He recorded his first hat trick of the season Tuesday in Bloomington's 7-3 win over Quad City. Booras scored two even-strength goals and one shorthanded tally, also adding an assist to the night giving him his first four-point night of the season. The 27-year-old Billings, Montana native is currently riding a four-game point streak, scoring three goals and eight assists during that span. Booras has notched in 44 points (17 goals, 27 assists) so far this season, which leads the PrairieThunder and is good for fourth in the IHL.

Other players nominated for the IHL Player of the Week include: Dayton forward John Snowden, Flint forward Matt Moffat, Fort Wayne left wing P.C. Drouin, Muskegon center Damian Surma, Port Huron forward Derek Patrosso and Quad City center Joel Gasper.

Hartung wrapped up Week 15 of his rookie scoring one goal and dishing out five assists and a plus- three rating for his most productive week so far. He scored his first power play goal of the season Wednesday in Dayton's 4-1 loss in Port Huron. Hartung had his fourth multi-point night of the season Sunday in the Gems 7-4 win over Quad City where he assisted on five of the seven goals scored. The five point night tied a league-high with four other players. Since joining the Gems in late November, the 25-year-old St. Paul, Minnesota native has recorded 20 points (6 goals, 14 assists) in 25 games, which ties him for ninth among IHL rookies.

Other players nominated for the IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington center Chase Watson, Flint forward John Mori, Fort Wayne defenseman Bobby Phillips, Muskegon defenseman Matt Krug, Port Huron left wing Mickael Bedard and Quad City left wing Obi Aduba.

Sterling earns his second goaltender of the week honor this season after earning the win in his only start this past week. He posted a.971 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average in the one game. He stopped 34 of 35 shots he faced, giving up the lone goal to Dayton with just under four minutes to play in the game. The 27-year old Lake Orion, Michigan native is current second among IHL goaltenders in goals against average (2.39) and save percentage (.920). Sterling is unbeaten in regulation in his last 12 starts. He has not lost in regulation since December 4th when the Icehawks were shutout by Muskegon.

Other goaltenders nominated for the IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Sebastian Dahm, Dayton's Ryan Mior, Flint's Rob Nolan, Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher and Muskegon's Sebastien Centomo.
