On Friday, the Iguanas let a pair of two goal leads slip away in a 6-5 overtime loss to Austin. Saturday night saw the Iggys let another two goal lead escape from their grasp in a shootout loss to Corpus Christi, but on Sunday the team finished out the 2001-02 schedule with a bang in a 4-1 victory over Bossier/Shreveport, a team that had won its eight previous games.

The Iguanas will begin a best-of-five series with the Austin Ice Bats on Friday night in the first round of the CHL Playoffs. San Antonio has had trouble with the Bats this season going 3-4-3 on the season. On home ice, San Antonio managed just one victory in five games. All three overtime losses to the Bats were games that the Iguanas held third period leads in. Dan Price had 20 points in the 10 games versus San Antonio (10 goals and 10 assists).
SHORTS
Home Ice Advantage: The Iggy truly did have an advantage in the Ice House this past season as they finished with a 22-6-4 home record. The team finished 14-0-3 in their last 17 home games and have not lost a regulation home game since December 22nd versus Indianapolis. The Iguanas will open the playoffs at home versus Austin on Friday night. San Antonio's 48 points earned on home ice was the fourth most behind Memphis, Odessa and Austin.
DuBois Reaches Milestone : Iguanas center Jonathan DuBois notched his 600th point on Sunday versus Bossier/Shreveport when he assisted on Darby Walker's third period goal. The helper gives Dubois 50 on the season (team leader) and 66 overall points. For his career, DuBois has scored 169 goals and 431 assists in just 440 career games. The Drummondville, Quebec native has also amassed over 1500 penalty minutes in his illustrious career.
Injury Bug: The Iguanas are experiencing their share of bumps and bruises but are essentially healthy heading into the post-season. Player/Assistant Coach Greg Gatto was able to sit out and rest this past weekend as he was scratched form all three games. Forward Henry Kuster was scratched from Saturday and Sunday's game to gain a couple extra days rest as well.
Green Finishes Strong: The Iguanas top goal scorer for the 2001-02 season was Captain Scott Green who totaled 37 goals. The fourth-year Iggy finished strong with eight goals in the month of March but still fell one goal short of his 2000-01 output of 38 goals. For the season, Green had 71 points (37 goals and 34 assists). Green scored at least one point in 21 of the team's 31 games in the year 2002.
Lawrence Lays The Law Down: Jimmy Lawrence has been one of the hottest Iguanas over the past two weeks scoring three goals and adding two assists in his last six games. It is no coincidence that Russell Hogue was signed six games ago as he has flourished playing on the same line as Lawrence and Ken Richardson. Lawrence finished the season with a pair of goals on Sunday versus Bossier/Shreveport that propelled him to 10 goals for the season. The rookie finished the season as the top rookie scorer on the Iguanas team with 29 total points.
Carmichael Finishes Season Almost Perfect: Goaltender Matt Carmichael got the call twice over the past week and was a minute and a half from being perfect this year for the Iguanas. Carmichael was added to the Iguanas roster back in late December when Brent Belecki went down with a wrist injury. Carmichael started seven games for the Iggys winning six of those games and losing once in a shootout. Carmichael ended up with a team low 2.03 goals against average and a save percentage of over 93 percent.
Manning Wins Team Scoring Title: First year Iguana Blair Manning finished up the way he finished the previous two seasons in Topeka as the team's leading scorer. Manning finished the season with 77 total points (29 goals and 48 assists). His point total was good enough to tie him for the 10th position among the league leaders.
