(Southfield, Mich., April 23, 2008) - The Detroit Ignition were eliminated from playoff contention by a "Golden Goal" from La Raza de Monterrey last weekend. La Raza will face the Baltimore Blast in the MISL Championship Series Final on Saturday, which will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel at 7 pm (EST). The Ignition tied up the semifinal series with Monterrey with a 21-2 victory in Game 2 on Sunday afternoon - the club's largest margin of victory this season. After a five minute intermission, the teams faced off in a sudden death "Golden Goal" mini-match series tiebreaker. La Raza forward Byron Alvarez scored the game-winning shot with just under four minutes to play in the mini-game, sending the expansion team to the MISL Championship.

2007-08 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
- Forward Jamar Beasley was the Ignition's scoring leader again this year, tallying 82 points during the 2007-08 regular season. Beasley scored his 300th career point on March 9 against the Chicago Storm. He finished seventh in the league in scoring, and was ranked fifth in goals with 33. Beasley was named Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending March 23 after scoring five goals for 11 points against the California Cougars.
- Ignition players swept the MISL Player of the Week awards for the week ending February 24 - Ricardinho, Danny Waltman and Droo Callahan received the honors for their contributions to the team's 19-8 victory over the Baltimore Blast.
- Goalkeeper Danny Waltman posted a league-leading save percentage during the regular season, finishing the year with a .744 mark. He also led the MISL in wins, recording 19 wins over the course of the season. Waltman made his
1000th career save on February 24 against Baltimore, and received two Goalkeeper of the Week awards during the year.
- Team Captain/defender Droo Callahan scored 62 points on the season, a number that more than tripled his point total from last season. 62 is also the number of blocks Callahan posted this year, ranking him second in the league. The Michigan
native recorded his 400th career block against the Orlando Sharks on March 14. Callahan was awarded Defensive Player of the Week honors four times during the 2007-08 season.
- Three Ignition players scored the 150th points of the MISL careers this season - Mike Apple (11/17/07 vs. California), Hewerton (4/4/08 vs. Milwaukee) and Ricardinho (4/5/08 at Baltimore). Midfielder Kyt Selaidopoulos, who tied for first in the league in game-winning goals, scored his 100th career point on March 30 against Milwaukee.
- Ignition rookies made a great impact on the team this year, accounting for over five percent of the club's points. Midfielder Vahid Assadpour led the rookie class with 15 points during the regular season, followed by defender Abraham Francois who tallied 9 points.
