Ignition stalled by Storm, 6-4 in Chicago

(Hoffman Estates, Ill - March 1, 2009) - In their second game in 24 hours, the Detroit Ignition (7-6) dropped a 6-4 decision to the Chicago Storm (6-9), making this afternoon's game Detroit's third consecutive loss. The Ignition, who have never lost more than three games in a row, were defeated by just one goal in each of their last two defeats.

Detroit's Kyt Selaidopoulos knocked in the first goal of the afternoon at 3:59 of the first, a two-pointer from the right corner off an assist from Josh Rife. Chicago defender Lazo Alavanja answered for the home team at 8:31, hammering a two-pointer of his own past Danny Waltman.

After a scoreless second quarter, the Storm's Ian Bennett, who scored a hat trick against the Ignition just last weekend, added two more points just 54 seconds into the third. Chicago forward Dan Antoniuk, who notched the assist on Bennett's goal, buried another two-pointer just over a minute later to put the Storm up 6-2. Ignition forward Mike Apple would score the last goal of the afternoon, a two point tally off a restart pass from defender Droo Callahan at 4:18 of the third.

The Ignition's next game is Sunday, March 8 against the New Jersey Ironmen (6-7). Kick off is at 4:35 pm at Compuware Arena.
