Chicago Storm News Release
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Feb. 28, 2009) - A near-perfect first half from the Milwaukee Wave ended the Chicago Storm's two-game winning streak Saturday night at the Sears Centre, 15-4.
The Storm (5-9) were coming off a thrilling 17-16 road victory over the Wave last Sunday, but Jonathan Santos scored less than 90 seconds into the game for Milwaukee and things got worse from there.
It was 9-0 at halftime, and Jack Przednowek scored 95 seconds after the third-quarter whistle to push the lead to 11. Dan Antoniuk broke through for Chicago with his third goal in three games with the Storm, a restart chance from Branko Savic with 8:18 remaining.
Will Kletzien entered as sixth attacker as the outset of the fourth quarter and it paid off with a goal by Chris Cerroni just 34 seconds in to make it 13-4. Chicago continued to pressure the Wave goal, but a goal by Brett Wiesner with 10:29 to go essentially ended the threat.
The Storm wrap up a double-dip weekend at 3 p.m. Sunday against the Detroit Ignition. Call 1-866-STORM81 for more information or pick up your tickets at the Sears Centre box office.
