(Milwaukee - February 15, 2009) - The Detroit Ignition (6-3) were defeated for the first time this year by the Milwaukee Wave (7-4), 8-4 at US Cellular Arena this afternoon. The Ignition were able to finish just two of their 16 chances in tonight's match.
Wave midfielder Chad Burt booted in the first tally of the afternoon at 9:33 of the opening frame. Ignition defender Zach Wilkes evened the count at two-all at 2:27 of the second, but Brett Weisner scored another two for Milwaukee with just 35 seconds left in the half.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the third, but Burt notched his second goal of the night just 50 seconds into the fourth quarter. Marco Terminesi added another two points for the home team at 11:00, and despite a late Ignition goal from Ryan Mack, the Wave walked away with an 8-4 win.
The Ignition return to action on Wednesday morning when they take on the New Jersey Ironmen at 11:00 am (EST).
