Ignition drop critical decision in Milwaukee, 13-2

(Milwaukee - March 15, 2009) - In the first of two straight games between the two tops teams in the XSL, the Detroit Ignition (8-7) were defeated 13-2 by the Milwaukee Wave (9-6) today. Both clubs have just five games remaining, including a rematch of this afternoon's game on Friday, March 20 at Compuware Arena. The Wave, who have tallied just one win at Compuware in three years, tied up season series with the Ignition with their victory today.

Milwaukee owned the game's first half, racking up seven unanswered points with goals from Marco Terminesi and Nilson Pernambuco. The Ignition were held scoreless for over 44 minutes - the team's only goal came at 14:16 of the third when Zach Wilkes booted in a restart pass from Droo Callahan. The Wave put three more goals in the Ignition net during the fourth quarter to bring the final score to 13-2.

Kick-off for Friday's match against the Wave is at 7:35 pm at Compuware Arena. The Ignition will sport their special edition green jerseys for the team's annual Green Jersey night, where fans have the opportunity to bid on their favorite Ignition player's green jersey during a silent auction held at the game. Winners of the auction will be announced at the Ignition game on Friday, April 3.
