
Ignite Ends 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup in Winning Fashion

SINGAPORE. - NBA G League closes out the 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup in winning fashion after defeating Al Manama, 80-60, on Sunday afternoon at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Babacar Sane led Ignite after recording a double-double with a game-high 22 points with 11 rebounds and three assists on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. His stellar performance earned him Player of the Game honors. Ron Holland followed closely with a double-double of his own after posting 21 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. John Jenkins added 12 points, while London Johnson tallied nine points, five assists and three rebounds.
Sir' Dominic Pointer led the way for Al Manama with a stat line of 20 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks and two assists on 8-of-17 shooting from the field, including 2-of-5 from the three-point line. Mosti Rashed followed with 13 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Latavious Williams notched a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
After four quick points from Al Manama to start the game, Ignite responded by scoring 11 consecutive points and would not surrender the lead for the remainder of the game. As both teams struggled from the field in the opening frame, Holland lit a fuse for Ignite after scoring nine of the team's 17 points in the first quarter. The rugged match continued throughout the course of the second quarter. Ignite looked to create separation after taking a 10-point lead, but Al Manama kept the game close at the halfway mark behind Rashed and Pointer's 10-point and 8-point first-half performances, respectively.
After Ignite took a 13-point lead in the third frame, Al Manama slowly began to climb back into the game. Down by eight points, Al Manama started the fourth quarter on an 11-5 run to cut its deficit to two points with under five minutes remaining in regulation. Ignite responded by turning up the defensive intensity and holding Al Manama to two points for the remainder of the game. Ignite pulled away by scoring 17 consecutive points to seal the victory. Ignite capitalized off Al Manama's mistakes by forcing 13 turnovers, resulting in 15 points on the other end.
