
IFL Announces First Players of the Week for 2009
March 19, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
Richmond, VA: With one weekend in the record books and teams preparing for more IFL action the IFL league office released its first Players Of The Week today. With over 133 games to be played this season the IFL is set for many record breaking performances and the first week of play was a good insight as to the quality of players located on IFL team rosters around the country.
WEEK ONE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - TERENCE BRYANT / SIOUX FALLS STORM
It didn't take QB Terence Bryant long to show that he is already in championship form. The veteran Storm quarterback threw for 5 touchdowns as the Storm won an exciting victory over the Bloomington Extreme 50-47 in Bloomington.
Bryant found the mark 25 times in 35 attempts and threw his longest touchdown of the night to Brent Little for 27 yards.
WEEK ONE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MICHAEL EBY / BILLINGS OUTLAWS
Eby anchored the Billings Outlaw defense by intercepting 2 Sioux City passes in a lopsided victory over the Bandits. The Bandits defense was impressive with Eby leading the way with a total of 4 tackles, 2 pass break ups and 2 interceptions returned for 34 yards.
WEEK ONE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - LAROCHE JACKSON - BLOOMINGTON EXTREME
Laroche Jackson made no mistake in letting everyone know that he came to play in Bloomington on March 14. The home town crowd saw this Extreme player all over the field. Larches' special team play helped keep Bloomington in the game until the very end by returning kicks and making tackles every chance he got. Jackson finished the game with 2 kick returns for 49 yards averaging 24.5 yards per return along with 116 all purpose yards and assisted in 8 tackles and had 4 solo tackles. He also had 1 interception defensively.
