
Iconic Female Basketball Star to Speak to Tulare County Girls' Basketball Players

VISALIA-The Visalia Rawhide & the Tulare County Office of Education's Character Counts! Program are partnering on a free event for local girls' basketball players on Saturday, January 24th from 3-4pm at the Rawhide Ballpark Hall of Fame Club.
Ann Meyers Drysdale will be representing her late husband, Don Drysdale, at the Visalia Professional Baseball Hall of Fame Induction ("Hot Stove Banquet") later Saturday evening, but also volunteered to speak to local female aspiring athletes about her personal life experiences, as well as the importance of "Pursuing Victory with Honor" - the Character Counts! athletic message.
Anyone interested in attending should rsvp to Jennifer@rawhidebaseball.com. Space is limited to the first 50 players. Coaches, Parents & Media are also welcomed to attend.
Ann Meyers Drysdale's career achievements include:
- Member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame
- First player to be part of the US national team while still in high school
- First woman to earn a full athletic scholarship to UCLA (basketball)
- Trailblazer for Title IX
- Played on the 1976 US Olympic basketball team (silver medal)
- Only woman to sign a contract with a NBA team (Indiana Pacers, 1979)
- Served as a network television sports analyst for ESPN, CBS & NBC
- President and General Manager for WNBA's Phoenix Mercury
- VP of NBA's Phoenix Suns
Attendees will also have the chance to receive an autographed version of Ann's recent biography You Let Some Girl Beat You?
