IceRays Powerplay Excels in 3-2 Win

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Corpus Christi IceRays finally clicked on the power-play, scoring two goals on the man up for a 3-2 win in Frisco, Texas over the Texas Tornado inside Dr. Pepper Arena.

After no scoring in the first period, the IceRays drew first blood 1:22 into the second period as Matthew Weis scooped up a rebound in front of the net tapping it past goaltender Reid Mimmack giving Corpus Christi a 1-0 advantage.

the IceRays struck again, this time on the power-play as Frank Misuraca rifled a shot from the point through the screen to give the IceRays a 1-0 lead 5:57 into the second period.

After two periods of play Corpus Christi led 2-0.

Beau Walker gave the IceRays a 3-0 lead with another power-play goal for the IceRays just 0:55 into the final period of regulation. Walker fired a shot from the blueline that went off the left post and into the net.

Texas did not give up, Jack Prince scored shortly after, just 1:29 into the third period as the Tornado had an extra attacker on to pull the Tornado within two goals.

Nick Neville scored a power-play goal 3:43 into the third period on a back door pass, goaltender Anthony Stolarz made the original unbelievable save but could not stop the rebound shot as the Tornado pulled within one goal.

With 1:59 left in regulation the Tornado took a penalty and the IceRays held on for the 3-2 victory.

The IceRays are in action tomorrow night once again in Frisco, Texas as they take on the Tornado. Puck drops at 7:30PM, coverage begins at 7:15PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
