IceRays lose on New Year's Eve

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Corpus Christi IceRays caught a bad break which proved to be the game winning goal for Wichita Falls late in regulation as the Wildcats beat the IceRays 2-1 inside the American Bank Center on New Year's Eve.

Corpus Christi broke the scoreless game 14:21 into the first period as Michael Dery has caught fire scoring another goal, his fourth goal in as many games assisted by Beau Walker and Joe Ginley for a 1-0 IceRays lead.

The Wildcats tied the game in period two courtesy of Tanner Fahlstedt who scored his second goal in two games against the IceRays to tie the game 1-1 just 3:52 into the middle period.

Wichita Falls caught a break late in regulation as Renato Engler banked a puck off the leg of Chris Taff and into the net for a 2-1 lead with six minutes left in regulation.

The IceRays are hit the road for three games in three days starting Thursday night in Frisco, Texas to take the ice with the Tornado. Puck drops at 7:30PM, coverage begins at 7:15PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
