
IceRays Fall to Brahmas Friday

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Lone Star Brahmas scored five unanswered goals, including an empty netter, to defeat the Corpus Christi IceRays 5-1 Friday night at NYTEX Sports Centre. Matthew Headland recorded the lone goal for Corpus Christi (20-16-1-0, 41 pts.).
Joey Baez notched two points (1+1) for Lone Star (16-15-2-4, 40 pts.) while goaltender Seth Eisele made 28 saves.
Headland's goal was scored 5:15 into the first period. The power-play tally was fired past Eisele's glove with assists coming from Jake Stella and Blake Bennett.
Baez tied the game less than four minutes later. The game remained 1-1 at the first intermission with the IceRays outshooting the Brahmas by a 12-5 margin.
Lone Star received goals from Josh Martin and former IceRay Noah Roofe in the second period. Clayton Lackey made it 4-1 midway through the third period, then with goaltender Brian George pulled in favor of an extra attacker, Lone Star's Jake Suede added an empty-net goal with 5:18 remaining.
The IceRays and Brahmas rematch at NYTEX Sports Centre Saturday night with puck drop set for 7:30 PM CT.
