Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX. - Sometimes in sports things bounce in your favor and in other instances it's the opposition that gets all the right things falling into place.

The Amarillo Bulls surrendered three first period goals and were blanked 6-0 by the Shreveport Mudbugs at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. It was just the Bulls fifth loss of the season, but second in their last three games.

Leo Chuard posted the shutout turning aside all 42 shots of face. Some of the shots required extra work by the Swiss native while others were shot directly into his mid section.

The visiting Mudbugs raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first period that chased goaltender Justin Evenson after just 20 minutes. Two of the goals bounced in the right direction with one on a one-timer and another on a tip in front of the net. Anton Rubtsov, Timothy Clifton and Ethan Harrison scored for Shreveport. Each team had 16 first period shots.

The Bulls' best chance to climb back into the game came off the stick of forward David Ojamae who was left alone in front of the net but stopped by the Mudbugs goaltender. Shreveport added two more goals to extend the advantage to 5-0. Warren Natyshak and then Ethan Harrison with his second of the game shorthanded. The Bulls outshot Shreveport 14-10 in the second period.

Jakob Skolnik rounded out the scoring for the visitors in the third period with a shot that beat Grande on the inside of the post.

The only positive part of the night was the Bulls shots on goal advantage of 43-35 including 13-9 in the third period.

The Amarillo Bulls nine game homestand concludes tomorrow (Saturday) night at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center at 7 pm versus the Shreveport Mudbugs. It's 24 Hours In The Canyon Cancer Survivorship Center night. The Bulls will be wearing special jerseys for a second night and a live auction follows immediately after the game to benefit that great organization.
