THE ICEMEN MAJESTICS: After the inaugural weekend of their second season as members of the Central Hockey League, the Evansville IceMen remain, remarkably, perfect personified and exemplified. Moreover, they still stand alone undefeated and still unscored upon. Under the doctrine according to second-year General Manager / Head Coach Rich Kromm, the IceMen made it three consecutive shutout victories in as many starts including the pre-season with all three victory verdicts brewed abroad in impressive fashion. The past Saturday night at archrival Fort Wayne before a crowd of 10,071, the IceMen ambushed the Komets opening night ceremonies celebrating the franchise 60th anniversary season with an emphatic 5-0 conquest of the K's. The IceMen latest triumph followed on the heels of two compelling, convincing conquests abroad during the pre-season one week earlier when they marooned the Mallards in the Quad Cities, 6-0 and doused the Blaze in Bloomington, 2-0. With those three consecutive shutout successes, the men of Evansville hockey fame and fortune have now outscored their adversaries by a mammoth margin of 13-0. "The Kromminator" kinetic contingent faces only one game, again, this coming week and it is in the form of an encore encounter with the Komets at Fort Wayne this Saturday night at 6:30 pm. The Evansville Icers are actually launching the new campaign with a three game road excursion which will be culminated Friday, night, November 4th in Bloomington for a bout with the Blaze.

The men of the Evansville ice igloo will introduce their new home of the new fabulous Ford Center for their opening night bonanza extravaganza Saturday night, November 5th at 7:15 pm when they lock horns with their principal archenemies, the Fort Wayne Komets. "ICEMEN LIVE PRESENTED BY COORS LIGHT": It's another fun and entertaining edition of the IceMen hockey fans very own two-hour radio show, "IceMen Live Presented by Coors Light," live from Show-Me's East on WEOA-AM 1400 and 1400amweoa.com. "The Voice of the IceMen," Terry Ficorelli will welcome special guests, defenseman Adam Knopp and rookie right wing Malcolm Gwilliam. The IceMen radio show is presented every Monday night from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
PRIMO PERFECTO MAGNIFICO: The revamped, retooled, reincarnated IceMen aggregation nation has been awesome and then-some through two pre-season encounters as well as opening night the past Saturday night at archrival Fort Wayne. Evansville is 1(1-0-0) totaling 2-points for its lone regular season appearance of the inchoate campaign and a combined 3(3-0-0) incorporating pre-season action. The Navy, Sky and White have represented the very embodiment of bite, fight and might, playing with flash, dash and panache with a strong hint of bash in outscoring their three opponents by a combined count of 13-0. The IceMen high-voltage attack has epitomized scoring balance as 11-different sharpshooters have accounted for the first 13-GF of the season. Moreover, the goal-scoring polished proficiency has been especially well-distributed in all of the major categories. Of the 13-total GF for the Evansville lamplighting laureates, 5-have been delivered at equal strength; 5-more on the power play and 3-from the penalty-killing ensemble cast.
THE ICEMEN 5, FORT WAYNE 0: In their lone contest for the opening of the CHL's 20th Anniversary Season, the IceMen traveled to Fort Wayne where they collared the K's, 5-0. The victors triggered single strikes in each of the first two periods before climaxing the carnage with a 3-goal third period assault which featured 2-PPG. Once again, scoring balance was prominent and predominant for "The Men of Ice" as 5-different cannoneers connected. John Ronan (FG/GWG); Brian Bicek (SHG); Sean O'Connor, Matt Gens (PPG) and Steven Makway (PPG) were the imperial impresarios with Todd Robinson essaying 4-assists and Josh Beaulieu and Philippe Plante each assisting twice. The IceMen spiced their zesty assault with 2-PPG and 1-SHG. Goaltender Pier-Olivier Pelletier was divine, repelling all 29-Komets' shots. The IceMen outshot the Fort Wayners, 38-29 including a 19-shots, barrage in the third stanza.
DOUBLE-O FOR P.O.: Obtained from the Laredo Bucks in an off-season transaction, goaltender Pier-Olivier Pelletier has emerged as the IceMen goal-gate guardian gargantuan. For a second successive Saturday start abroad, the former #2 draft pick of the NHL Phoenix Coyotes has mastered the opposition with zero tolerance and zero GA. His #1 Star 29-saves' performance-impeccable Saturday night at Fort Wayne wrecked the Komets 60th Anniversary opening night celebration and sent his team back home to Evansville in a profound state of jubilation. Pelletier is 2(2-0-0) going 58/58; 1.000 SPCT and extra-ordinary 0.00 GAA; two starts, two wins, two road wins, 2-shutouts. Pelletier is the IceMen nomination for CHL Goaltender of the Week.
4 FOR 4 FOR "T. ROB": Having amassed more scoring points than any single player in all of pro hockey including the NHL spanning his initial 12-seasons, center Todd Robinson continues his career-long full frontal offensive assault. Though the 6-time century point pivot has played in only 2 of his team's first 3-games including the pre-season, the veteran virtuoso has made his mark of magnificent majesty. When he crafted an adept and adroit 4-assists in the Saturday night opening night success at Fort Wayne, it represented his second 4-points enormous performance in as many games thus far in this incipient season. "T. Rob" also maestroed 4-points on 1-goal, 3-assists one week earlier in his team's 6-0 dominance at Quad City. Thus, in 2-games, the IceMen pre-eminent prince of points playmaking pivot has percolated a prolific 8-points; 2(1-7-8) with a brilliant +5 rating. Robinson is the IceMen nomination for CHL Player of the Week.
UNEVEN STRENGTH STELLAR: An integral and instrumental part of the IceMen early season magic and mystique has been the polished and precision performance of their special teams. In Saturday night's opening night victorious decision at Fort Wayne, the power plant power play was 2-8 for an excellent proficiency rating of 25%. Incorporating the pre-season, Evansville's extra man band is a highly-productive 5-14 in a trio of outings for a conversion rate of an outstanding 35.7%. Meanwhile the penalty-killing class has earned a bevy of gold stars for its perfect performance. On opening night, it sustained the sorcery it had attained in the pre-season by going 5-5 against the Komets vaunted extra man team. With the pre-season included, the IceMen are the utter masters of their shorthanded domain, operating at 100% efficiency; 13-13. Again, including the pre-season, the IceMen have already propelled 3-SHG.
MILESTONES MULTITUDINOUS: Defenseman Steven Makway's PPG Saturday night was his 200th pro career point in his 399th pro career game; 399(45-155-200). Right wing Sean O'Connor (193) is 7-games shy of pro career 200. With his 2-assists Saturday night, defensemen Philippe Plante (393) is 7-points shy of 400. Plante (292) is also 8-assists away from 300. Saturday night was John Ronan's 350th career game.
FEW FUN FAST FACTS FROM "FIC": Including the pre-season, the IceMen 13-GF have been produced by 11-assorted artisans with only Brian Bicek (2) and Matt Pierce (2) delivering twice. Last year on opening night on the road, the IceMen bowed at Dayton, 3-1, despite outshooting the Gems that night, 38-22. Brian Bicek accounted for the IceMen lone goal. With their win Saturday at Fort Wayne, the IceMen continue to have a winning record against their principal archrivals at 12 (6-4-2) with 4 of those half-dozen triumphs extracted from "Komet-land." The IceMen are 6(3-1-2) in their last 6 and 9(5-2-2) in their last 9-episodes against the K's. The IceMen limited Fort Wayne to only 4-SOG in the first period Saturday night.
