
Americans Fall in a Shootout

Allen Texas- Two first period goals by the Americans, Bruce Graham his first of the season, and Jason Deitsch his first with Allen gave the Americans the early cushion jumping out to a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Allen added another in the second as Colton Yellow Horn set up Joshua Hepditch on an unbelievable tip pass to make it 3-0 Americans after 2 periods, Hepditch first in an Americans uniform, the defenseman was acquired from Missouri earlier in the week for future considerations.
In the third the Thunder stormed back scoring three goals to tie it, two of them coming on a five on three power play to even things up with 7:49 to go. The Americans withstood great pressure by the Thunder if the final minute as goaltender Rejean Beauchemin stood strong sending the game to overtime.
In the extra session both teams created scoring chances only to be denied by both netminders, so on to a shootout for the second night in a row for Wichita, and for the second night in a row the Thunder come out on top. Last night a 3-2 win over Rapid City, tonight the Thunder pick up their first ever win over Allen 4-3 in a shootout.
The Americans go to 0-1-1 on the season and will continue the road trip next Friday night October, 28th against the Texas Brahmas.
