IceHogs To Help With Chuck Ellis Memorial

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, members of the American Hockey League, are taking part in the Chuck Ellis Memorial Benefit. The benefit is on Sunday, Aug. 26 at Carlson Ice Arena in Loves Park. There is a $5 admission and the benefit runs from 3-6 p.m.

The late Ellis was heavily involved in the Rockford hockey community. A loving and devoted husband and father, Chuck left behind five kids and his wife after a bicycle accident claimed his life in June. Chuck's involvement with hockey included coaching three of his sons at the Beloit Youth Hockey Association and with the Jr. IceHogs, playing with the Sr. IceHogs and being an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and IceHogs.

All proceeds from Sunday's event will go to the Chuck Ellis Memorial. The admission price includes skate rental at Carlson Ice Arena, access to the Playworld and a live DJ. There will also be a silent auction, drawings for prizes and a dunk tank for an additional fee. Items in the silent auction and raffle include a Rockford Park District Golf Pass, Magic Water Pass, Massage Package, $450 Finnegan RV for weekend rental, Blackhawks tickets, Lia Sophia jewelry basket, hockey and figure skating lessons and much more.

Celebrities scheduled to be in the dunk tank include former IceHogs player and coach Scott Burfoot, IceHogs team President Ryan Washatka, the Head Coach of the 11-time defending State Champion Rockford Icemen and IceHogs color commentator Tim Mattila, former Rockford Icemen standout and New York Islanders draft pick Troy Mattila, President of the Beloit Youth Hockey Association Mike Santucci, Dr. Kris Tumilowicz and former Rockford Icemen standout forward Scott Ross.

ANOTHER ROUND OF THE JERSEY AUCTION OPENS

The Rockford IceHogs began another round of its online game-worn jersey auction on Wednesday. Fans can bid on authentic game-worn jerseys, worn by members of the Hogs 2006-07 Colonial Cup Championship team at www.icehogs.com.

This weeks auction includes Colonial Cup Playoff MVP Kevin Ulanski's red alternate jersey, goalie Jake Moreland's red alternate jersey, Erick Lizon's home white jersey and goalie Dayne Pyfer's home white jersey. Bids start at $300 and the auction will close at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
