Port Huron Icehawks News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks will play a trio of home games this week as they fight for position in the upcoming Turner Cup Playoffs. The Fort Wayne Komets will visit McMorran Arena for a St. Patrick's Day matchup Wednesday after overtaking the Icehawks for second place in the IHL standings Saturday. The Dayton Gems and Flint Generals will also come to town for games Friday and Saturday.

During Wednesday's game, Icehawks players will wear special green Guinness jerseys that will be auctioned off to fans following the game. This is the second year in a row the Icehawks will host the Komets on St. Patrick's Day. Last year, the Komets earned a 2-1comeback victory in Port Huron.

The Dayton Gems make their sixth trip to Port Huron Friday in search of their first victory at McMorran Arena. The Icehawks are 5-0-0-0 at home versus the Gems this season and 8-2-0-0 overall. Rival Flint comes to town the following night for the first time in over a month. The Icehawks play the Generals more than any other team this season, and Saturday's matchup will be the 14th of 17 meetings. The Icehawks are 8-4-0-1 against the Generals this season.

The Icehawks managed just two points in three games last week, beating the Bloomington PrairieThunder 4-3 in an overtime thriller Friday before losing tough road games in Fort Wayne and Muskegon over the weekend. Sunday's 5-3 loss in Muskegon was the last regular season game between the Lumberjacks and the Icehawks. Muskegon is the only IHL team with a winning record against Port Huron, finishing 8-4-0-1 against the Icehawks this year.

Port Huron heads into the final weeks of the 2009-10 season in third place with an overall record of 37-20-0-4. The Icehawks will play nine of their last 15 games at home, where they are 20-8-0-0. The Fort Wayne Komets are just one point ahead of Port Huron, but have two games in hand.

Impressive Streaks: Derek Patrosso and Brandon Naurato were able to tally points in all three games last week to keep their eight-game point streaks alive. The forwards are tied with Muskegon's Robin Bouchard and Todd Robinson for the longest active point streak in the IHL. Patrosso has four goals and eight assists since February 26, while Naurato has kept up the pace with six goals and four assists.

Getting The Call: Goalie Adam Russo became the first Icehawks player to be called up to the American Hockey League this year when the Houston Aeros signed him to a PTO for the weekend. Russo earned a win in Port Huron's 4-3 overtime victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder Friday before being called up Saturday. The Icehawks struggled in Russo's absence, losing in Fort Wayne and Muskegon while Russo traveled to Chicago and Rockford, Illinois with the Aeros.

Rookie Leaders: Brandon Naurato became the second Icehawks rookie to reach the 40 point mark with his goal Sunday in Muskegon. Naurato moves into the top five among rookie scorers in the IHL this season despite playing 15 fewer games than some of the players ahead of him. One of those players is teammate Mickael Bedard, who has sat atop the list for the majority of the season. With two assists last week Bedard now has 64 points on 31 goals and 33 assists this season. Bedard enjoys a 14-point lead over Flint's John Mori.

Ticket Packages: The Icehawks are offering two great discount packages for home games during the 2009-10 season. Family Four Packs are available now for all home games, while Deuces Wild Packages are on sale for all weekday games.

Family Four Packs include four tickets, four hot dogs, and four small fountain drinks for just $44. For just $22, the Deuces Wild Package includes two tickets in the Attack Zone and two beers or soft drinks. The Deuces Wild Package must be purchased at the Icehawks office during normal business hours, while the Family Four Pack is available in advance or at the gate.

Single Game Tickets: Single game tickets for all Icehawks home games are on sale now at the McMorran Arena Box Office, any Ticket Master location or by phone. For more information, visit www.porthuronicehawks.com or call 810-966-3800.
