Port Huron Icehawks News Release
PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks announced that they have completed a trade with International Hockey League rival Flint and acquired Generals defenseman Kyle Deck in exchange for defenseman Paul Holder and forward Derek Patrosso. Per team policy, details of the deal were not disclosed.
Deck (6-1, 201) has quickly established himself as a premiere player in his first professional season. An offensive defenseman; he currently leads all league defensemen and rookies in scoring with 38 points (13g, 25a) in 45 games. He also leads both categories in power play goals (7), leads defensemen in goals (13) and is ranked first among rookies in assists (25) and power play assists (8).
The 23-year old native of Sedley, Saskatchewan, Canada joined the Generals as an amateur at the tail end of the 2007-08 season, after a brief stint at the University of Regina. Prior to that, he played five seasons of junior hockey with the Regina Pats in the Western Hockey League.

"Kyle is one of the best defensemen in the league and any team would love to have him," Head Coach and General Manager Stan Drulia said. "This move gives us some added offense that we are not getting as of late. He will help our power play and give us the opportunity to put our other defensemen in a position to be successful."
He added, "In order to get good players in a deal, you must be willing to give up good players. We traded two young rookies with great potential. Patrosso is getting better every day and has a bright future, while Holder needs more playing time and this opportunity allows that for him. I want to thank both players for their dedication to our organization and wish them both the very best."
Patrosso came to Port Huron at the end of October after four seasons with Colorado College in the NCAA. The rookie put up 21 points (9g, 12a) and a +5 rating in 34 games this season. Holder was signed by the Icehawks on December 12 after beginning the season with the Rapid City Rush in the Central Hockey League. The rookie defenseman had four assists in 16 games with Port Huron.
Deck is expected to be in the lineup tomorrow when the Icehawks host the Muskegon Lumberjacks at McMorran Arena at 7:30 p.m. The first place Icehawks wrap up the week with a doubleheader at Fort Wayne on Friday and Saturday.
