
IceDogs Take Commanding 3-0 Series Lead with 6-3 Win

The Niagara IceDogs came up with a huge 6-3 victory on Tuesday night to take a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Brampton Battalion in their Eastern Conference Semifinal.
The IceDogs got off to a tough start giving up the first two goals of the game to fall behind 2-0 just past the midway point of the first period. Tom Kuhnhackl would strike for the IceDogs however at 15:34 to cut the Brampton lead in half, making it 2-1 after one. Shots in the period were 9-7 for Brampton.
Niagara would tie the game early in the second as Alex Friesen would score a shorthanded marker to knot things up at 2-2. Freddie Hamilton would then give the IceDogs their first lead of the game at the 7:18 mark to make it 3-2 for the home side. Brampton would battle back quickly however tying things up less than 3:30 later at 3-3. The wild period would continue as Kuhnhackl would bury his second of the game on the powerplay to make it 4-3 IceDogs. That would prove to be the last goal of the period as the teams headed into the intermission with Niagara leading by one.
The third period would see Freddie Hamilton continue his strong play as he picked up his second goal of the night shorthanded to extend the Niagara lead to 5-3. Hamilton would then finish off his hat trick and give the IceDogs the 6-3 victory!
The line of Freddie Hamilton, Strome and Kuhnhackl was dominate with Freddie picking up first star with three goals and two assists, Strome getting second star with four assists and Kuhnhackl receiving the third star for his two goals.
The IceDogs will now head to Brampton for game four of the series on Thursday night. The IceDogs will be running a bus trip to the game at a cost of $40 and interested fans can contact Nick Williams at n.williams@niagaraicedogs.net for more information or to book their spot!
