Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs kicked off the OHL regular season on a two game road trip as they visited the Sudbury Wolves and Sault St. Marie Greyhounds this past weekend, managing a win and a loss out of the two games.
Niagara will now get a chance to play out of their home rink as they host the Erie Otters and Brampton Battalion in two of the three games the IceDogs will play in this coming weekend.
Prior to both of these IceDogs home games, as a part of the home-opener weekend, the IceDogs will be hosting a pre-game fan fest beginning at 5 p.m. at the Gatorade Garden City Complex. 105.1 The River will be broadcasting live from the fan fest, and there will be food and drink available for the fans to purchase as they enjoy some music, mingle and discuss the upcoming season.
Fans are encouraged to attend these pre-game events as they are a great way to kick-off what should be an exciting and eventful IceDogs season.
Thing get started with IceDogs home-opener, which will take place this Thursday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. as they host the Erie Otters at the Gatorade Garden City Complex.
There are still plenty of great seats available for this game with approximately 450 seats remaining!
The IceDogs met with Erie three times in the pre-season, going a perfect 3-0 against the young Otters team. Although in the Western Conference, the Otters have formed quite the rivalry with Niagara over the past few years. When the two teams face off, fans can always expect a fast paced, hard-hitting game. The Otters bring with them Toronto Maple Leafs draftee Greg McKegg, who is sure to be the focal point of the Erie team, and makes for an interesting player to watch.
Niagara's home-opening weekend is divided by an away game against the Guelph Storm on Friday, Oct. 1, where the Dogs will visit Taylor Beck and the Storm in the first of two match-ups between the two teams this season.
The IceDogs will conclude the weekend by playing host to the Brampton Battalion on Saturday, Oct. 2 with the puck drop set for 7 p.m. With Brampton's star players such as Matt Duchene and Cody Hodgson now playing in the NHL, the Battalion has a young nucleus of players that have nothing to lose, and everything to prove.
There are also plenty of great seats still available for this game with approximately 650 seats remaining!
As mentioned above, tickets for both games are still available for purchase, and what better weekend to attend than the home-opener season kick-off.
Fans will get a chance to see all their favorite returning IceDogs take to the ice joined by the newest IceDogs Steven Shipley, Tim Billingsley, and Jason Wilson play in what looks to be an exciting and successful weekend for the IceDogs!
Once again, tickets can be purchased at the IceDogs 35 Queen St. office, the Pen Centre Customer Service desk, the Seaway Mall Customer Service desk, the Money Mart location on Ferry St. in Niagara Falls, at the Gatorade Garden City Complex (game days only, starting 2 hours prior to puck drop), and through all Ticketmaster locations, including on-line at www.ticketmaster.ca and by phone at 905-481-4444.
