Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs fell to the visiting Oshawa Generals by a score of 4-2 at the Gatorade Garden City Complex on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 3,145.

In the first period of play, Oshawa opened the scoring at 8:33. Despite a high intensity level of play, the IceDogs were unable to find the back of the net and the score remained 1-0 heading into the intermission. The shot total was 14-8 for Oshawa.

The IceDogs would come out strong in the second as Brenden Perlini, put the IceDogs on the board 6:30 into the period. The IceDogs would continue the offensive pressure barely three minutes later, as Ryan Strome would score the 100th goal of his OHL career, shorthanded, to give the IceDogs a one goal advantage at 2-1. Unfortunately, that lead wouldn't last as Oshawa would tie the game up at 2-2 at the 10:34 mark, a score that would remain heading into the intermission. At the end of the period the shots favoured Oshawa 25-16.

The third period saw tempers flare as the game's intensity increased with the IceDogs looking for the equalizing goal. Unfortunately, despite tough pressure from the IceDogs, Oshawa scored the only two goals in the third, the second in an empty netter, to make the final score 4-2 for the visitors.

The IceDogs will hit the road for their next two games, against Erie Wednesday and Owen Sound Saturday, before returning to St. Catharines on Sunday, February 17th for a 2 pm puck drop against the London Knights. Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games are still available and can be purchased at all other IceDogs ticketing locations.
