The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Kitchener Rangers 2-0 at the Gatorade Garden City Complex in St. Catharines on Thursday.

The Rangers and IceDogs played to a scoreless 1st period as both goaltenders made some key saves to keep the teams even. After twenty minutes, the Kitchener Rangers led the shot total 13-10.

The goaltenders would continue to be the story in the second, keeping things scoreless until Ryan Strome scored his 10th goal of the year to open the scoring late in the period, allowing Niagara to carry a 1-0 lead into the 2nd intermission. After two periods Kitchener led 23-20 in shots on goal.

Kitchener continued to up the pressure for the tying goal in the third, but Festarini was up to task keeping the score at 1-0 until Brett Ritchie added an empty net goal making it a 2-0 final in favour of the IceDogs.

Festarini was outstanding in the victory stopping 32 shots for his 2nd shutout of the season, and helping the IceDogs stretch their home winning streak to four games.

The IceDogs will continue their two game home stand when they host the Guelph Storm Saturday Night at the Gatorade Garden City Complex. Puck drops at 7pm. Tickets for Saturday's game are going quickly with only single seats and standing room remaining, so get your tickets now!
