Niagara IceDogs News Release

Niagara IceDogs General Manager Dave Brown announced today that the IceDogs have named Billy Burke an Assistant Coach.

The 23-year-old Burke has an extensive playing background, which includes OHL experience, having been a forward for the Barrie Colts during the 2005-06 season. Burke also spent four years at Queens University, where he played three seasons for the school football team, in addition to his four years on the hockey team.

Last season in his final year at Queens, he not only captained the Golden Gaels Men's Hockey team, but also led the team in scoring with 10 goals and 8 assists for 18 points in 28 games. Burke also had a brief stint in the IHL this season before deciding to join the staff.

"Billy will be a great addition to our coaching staff" said Brown. "He brings some good experience to the table and when combined with his youth, it will certainly help him understand what the players are experiencing. We definitely look forward to having him as a part of our coaching staff."
