Alpena IceDiggers News Release
The Team Toledo IceDiggers play host to the Cleveland Barons this Friday, December 17, in a 7:30 p.m game at the Toledo Ice House. The Barons are fresh off a two-game sweep of first place Youngstown.
After playing only once last week, a 6-0 loss to the USNTDP's very strong Under-18 team, Toledo defeated Youngstown themselves, 5-4 on Tuesday of this week thanks to a pair of late goals. The Ice Diggers -- who out-shot Youngstown 41-33 tonight, got the tying goal from Kaleigh Schrock at the 17:34 mark of the third period and the game-winner from Ross Enmark just over a minute later.
Toledo currently sits in third place of the NAHL-North Division, with Cleveland and the Soo hot on their trail.
Heading into this week's play, IceDiggers forward Paul Scalici was among the NAHL's top ten in scoring with 10 goals and 18 assists.
IceDiggers forward Jake Hovick has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for West Point next fall. The IceDiggers also plan on announcing several other NCAA commitments over the next several weeks.
The IceDiggers feature three local players. Jim Kozlowski, a St. Francis de Sales HS graduate, is third in team scoring with 10 goals and 13 assists. Adam Snead, a senior at Northview HS, has played in all 24 games and has one goal and three assists and is a top college prospect. Steven Culbertson, a Bowling Green HS graduate, has three goals and three assists. For more
