St. John's IceCaps News Release
ST. JOHN'S, NL (December 6, 2016) - The St. John's IceCaps are teaming with Capital Hyundai to hold a food drive in aid of the Community Food Sharing Association and participants will receive complimentary IceCaps tickets.
Fans who bring five or more non-perishable food items to Mile One Centre - starting today at noon until 5 p.m. Friday - will receive two tickets to Friday night's IceCaps game compliments of Capital Hyundai. Friday night is the annual NTV/Salvation Army Teddy toss game, this year featuring the Springfield Thunderbirds in their first ever appearance at Mile One Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are subject to availability.
"The St. John's IceCaps are pleased to provide this opportunity to help such a worthy organization, that has become an integral part of our community," said IceCaps President and CEO Danny Williams. "I'm quite confident our fans will rise to the occasion to help make this much-needed food drive a huge success. And I would also like to thank Capital Hyundai for their partnership in this important initiative."
Matt Kelland, Marketing Director, Capital Auto Group, says Capital Hyundai is proud to work alongside the St. John's IceCaps in support of such a worthy endeavour.
"It means a lot to our team to give back and help provide local families with the assistance they need during the holiday season," says Mr. Kelland.
The Community Food Sharing Association and its 56 member agencies provide support to nearly 30,000 clients in need of food. All proceeds from the food drive supports the Community Food Sharing Association, which is fighting to end hunger by providing food and resources to those in need in throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
"On behalf of our thousands of clients, I'd like to thank the IceCaps and Capital Hyundai for putting this food drive together," said Eg Walters, General Manager of the Community Food Sharing Association. "It is an unfortunate reality that we need food and monetary donations year round, but Christmas seems to put an extra strain on our resources so we hope IceCaps fans rally around this cause."
IceCaps tickets can be purchased in person at the Mile One Centre box office, by phone at 709-576-7657 or online at www.mileonecentre.com.
