Louisiana IceGators News Release

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--Another road trip comes to a bittersweet for the Louisiana IceGators.

A couple of critical non-calls, including a possible offside on a game-tying goal, doomed the IceGators in their 3-2 shootout loss to the Knoxville IceBears. Ryan Salvis scored the game-winner in the fourth round of penalty shots.

The IceGators return to action next Friday when they travel to Florida to play the Pensacola IceFlyers. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.

"I'm proud of the guys," IceGators head coach Drew Omicioli said. "They deserved to win that game. We outplayed (Knoxville) all night. Tonight, we were beaten by someone other than the IceBears."

Knoxville jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Jake Johnson scored with 2:54 remaining in the first period off assists from Salvis and Sy Nutkevitch.

The IceGators claimed the lead by scoring twice in the second period. Jake Hauswirth tied the game at the 3:17 mark of the frame off assists from Jeremy Boyer and Brian Berger. Shawn McNeil gave Louisiana the lead with 4:07 left in the frame when he scored off a feed from Dan Cornell.

The IceBears knotted the score with 3:02 left in regulation when Dennis Sicard went top shelf off assists from Lou Educate and Robbie Donahoe.

Omicioli says despite coming home with only three points on the weekend, he's pleased with how his teams ran their systems this weekend.

"We will keep this change going into next weekend," Omicioli said.
